Level 18 [Video / Action for Goldenrod.] AROMATHERAPY FRIDAY
[ACCIDENTAL VIDEO]
[Ralph is furiously tapping away at his 'gear and has accidentally turned the camera on. Enjoy a worm's eye view of the guy's chin and thumbs and little else. He's outside, seated on a bench somewhere in Goldenrod's shopping district and ranting to someone.]
And you know what really crosses my wires? They had the nerve to keep on pretending! I don't know about you, Wrath, but I'm sick and tired of this whole Johto-wide charade of everyone pretending like they aren't from a video game! I can't be the only one that remembers! I can't be the only one who didn't get his code scrambled!
I think they're all kiddin' themselves! So what if there's no quarter alert? So what if we can't see the screen and nobody knows where the tram is! That doesn't mean we should all pretend to be real!
[ACTION FOR SOME BAR IN GOLDENROD]
[After a long, exhausting day of arguing, it's easy to find the big guy with some empty glasses at his elbow tucked away in whatever dimly lit corner he could find. He has a Lot to think about.]

you could say im from a computer game and be more or less factually accurate so its not like im new to the concept
[Text]
DOESNT IT GET LONELY WITHOUT A NETWORK? WHATS IT LIKE NOT BEING ON A SCHEDULE?
[Text]
i guess you could classify sburb as like an mmorpg?
its a little more complicated than that because you have to take the client to server relationships into account but thats the nearest thing i can think of
so its not like we were at any point playing by ourselves
what do you mean by schedule though
Re: [Text]
MY GAME IS IN AN ARCADE. SAME HOURS EVERY DAY. YOU CAN NEVER TELL WHEN THE QUARTER ALERT WILL GO UP BUT IT'S SLOWED DOWN THESE LAST FEW YEARS. NOBODY REALLY CARES ABOUT OLD GAMES ANYMORE.
[Text]
i get you
thats kind of sad though
arcades are like a treasured american institution theyre integral to so many coming of age movies
id be bummed to see them go
[Text]
[Text]
i mean if youre stuck inside just the one game all the time
dont arcade games not have that many characters in them usually
[Text]
ONCE OUR SHIFT IS OVER WE CAN TAKE THE TUNNEL AND ONCE YOU HIT GAME CENTRAL STATION YOU CAN GO TO ANY GAME YOU LIKE
I USUALLY HANG OUT IN TAPPER'S
[Text]
shit that sounds hilarious
i totally wouldve ditched my game if i could get out of it
which i mean i guess i did since here i am in the pokemon world but you know what i mean
[Text]
[Text]
game boy color i think
im not sure i didnt have one of those but its an old handheld console
so maybe the screen is too small for you to see
[Text]
[Text]
i dont know then
i guess its just one more thing to chalk up to universes working differently
i couldnt see a screen even after i entered the game back where im from
[Text]
MAYBE IT WAS LIKE ONE OF THOSE NEWFANGLED FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS. ONE GAME I WOUND UP IN BY ACCIDENT HAD THAT INSTEAD. IT WAS LIKE A LITTLE ROBOT KINDA GUY AND THE SCREEN WAS SMALL.
[Text]
so what year are you from that first person shooters are new for you
[Text]
EVER HEAR OF A GAME CALLED FIX-IT FELIX JR.?
[Text]
but pacman is basically ancient from my frame of reference
[Text]
IVE BEEN WATCHING VIDEO GAMES COME AND GO FOR THIRTY YEARS. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW VIOLENT THEYVE GOTTEN. WHAT'S WRONG WITH KIDS TODAY???
[Text]
bro believe me i wish i knew
even here the premise is all combat all the time even if they dress it up with cutesy bgm and endearing animal companionship
[Text]
DID YOU KNOW THIS PLACE HAS VIDEO GAMES IN IT? ON THIS GIZMO WE'RE USING RIGHT NOW? I ONCE STAYED UP THREE NIGHTS IN A ROW THINKING ABOUT THAT
[As soon as he hits send, Ralph freezes. Wait. Why did he say that? Nobody is supposed to know that!]
FORGET I SAID THAT
[Text]
is that really so strange though
its just some meta
isnt that more or less commonplace throughout the ages
plays within plays and all that shakespearean bullshit
